Wednesday,
11th February
Japanese troops advanced with tanks down Jurong Road, Ulu Pandan
Road and Reformatory Road (which is known today as "Clementi Road").
Mines, barbed and trip wire obstacles as well as manned pillboxes
all failed to stop the enemy's relentless advance.
At about 2000 hours, the Malay Regiment positions in the area west
of Reformatory Road came under heavy artillery fire. Troops guarding
the Pasir Panjang crossroads also clashed with the Japanese.
