Soldiers of many races and countries fought and died to defend Singapore. British, Indians, Australians, Malays, Chinese, Eurasians, and others. My father, a Singapore Chinese was involved as a member of the Local Defence Force. He survived the war by the grace of God. We Singaporeans, whatever our racial origin, must stand ready to defend our country, and our people. For no one else will.

We must preserve the memories, to enable that lives were not lost in vain. God bless you Sidney, Lazenby Clayton (grandad) - HMS impregnable - Loncoln, England, fighting, surviving your wounds and assisting two local women to escape, before thinking of helping yourself. Alexanda Hospital '42. Remember those who fought the savage attack.
