Starting
with a brief account of the events that happened at
Bukit Chandu and the surrounding area during the Japanese
invasion in 1942, students will be lead by actors
from Stagehandz, who will conduct an engaging drama
performance.
This tour allows students to re-live the Battle of
Bukit Chandu, one of the fiercest battle fought by
the Malay Regiment on this very hill before the fall
of Singapore on 15 February 1942.
Students
will be drawn into the play through face-to-face interaction
with the actors. Some scenes include a monologue by
a Malay Regiment officer, a battle between him and
a Japanese soldier as well as a sharing session with
a "war survivor". In between scenes, alternative
groups of students will be brought into Gallery 1,
where a guide will narrate to students the history
of Malaya, the Askar Melayu and the battle that took
place 60 years ago in Pasir Panjang. |
